How to Effectively Promote Your Book Without Breaking the Bank: 5 Free Strategies

Promoting a book can be a daunting task, especially for self-published authors or those working with limited budgets. However, getting the word out about your literary masterpiece doesn't have to break the bank. There are numerous free strategies that can help you reach a wider audience and boost your book's visibility. In this blog post, we'll explore five effective and cost-free methods to promote your book. Whether you're a seasoned author or a first-time writer, these tips will help you harness the power of the internet and your own creativity to spread the word about your work. Let's dive in and discover how you can make your book a success without spending a dime!

  1. Utilize Amazon A* content

If you've published through KDP, then you have access to the A* content section for most countries. Here, you can add attractive banners or information about your book/s to entice readers into downloading. If you're not great with Canva or photoshop, a simple line up of your book covers with a little information is a great way to tell readers more!

2. Newsletter Swaps

Hopefully by now you've connected with some authors in your genre so your next best way to gain access to more readers is by doing newsletter swaps. Consider setting up a Google form or something similar and post on social media to let authors know you want to feature them in your newsletter. There are also plenty of groups on Facebook that specialize in swaps! Then all you have to do is give them your book link and they'll be promoting your book in their newsletter in return! It's a great way to connect with other people in the industry too.

3. Offer Your Book For Free

If you have more than one book available, particularly a series, you can consider offering your book for free. There are two effective ways of doing this: Firstly, if you're in Kindle Unlimited, you can schedule a free promotion. FYI We don't recommend you run them for more than 3 days at a time. These free days can really bring in new reviews and additional sales once your book goes back to full price if promoted correctly. Secondly, you can offer your book for free via your own platforms. The best way of doing this is either on your website or via Bookfunnel. You can offer if with no strings attached to encourage readers to read your next books or make it as part of a newsletter sign up offer to ensure you make the most of having a new reader download your book.

4. Ensure your back content is the best it can be

Once someone has finished your book, you want to be making sure they're sticking with you! Make sure your content at the end leads them onto your next book with interesting and enticing snippets or a compelling blurb and maybe the first chapter. Don't spam your reader with links but be sure to at least have your website and Amazon page listed too!

5. Free website promotion

Some websites offer free basic promotion (even us!). You can find places to submit your book free below:
